Why OLMCS
Why Our Lady of Mount Carmel School?
Catholic Community
Our Lady of Mount Carmel School Community is a partnership of parents, students, staff and parish communities that nurtures the growth of the whole child in a Catholic faith-based education through a challenging academic environment.
In this Christ-centered atmosphere, the unique qualities of each student are recognized. Children are encouraged to be life-long learners, and are taught to be active Christian leaders throughout their lives.
Teachers Who Care
In addition to our principal, our faculty and staff includes 11 teachers, instructional assistants in grades K-2, a technology specialist, a music teacher, physical education instructor, an art teacher, and a resource specialist.
Academics
OLMCS has a solid academic program including instruction in religion, mathematics, language arts, reading, science, social studies, technology, physical education, and an integrated fine arts program.
OLMCS is accredited through National Catholic Education Association (NCEA) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). On average, students score above average on the standardized Iowa tests. The majority of our 8th grade students go on to Catholic high schools.
Modern Campus Facilities
OLMCS offers modern facilities including classrooms equipped with SmartBoard technology, a technology media center, library, playground and athletic field. Technology literacy skills are integrated throughout the curriculum. Key support programs include hot lunch, instructional support services and extended care.
