Our Lady of Mount Carmel School adheres to appropriate curriculum standards that are delineated and show natural progression. The school follows common core standards for English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, as well as the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for Science, the History-Social Science Content Standards for California Public Schools, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles (ADLA) Religion standards. Adhering to these standards ensures that a vertically aligned rigorous curriculum is taught across grade levels. Teachers also spend time in grade levels identifying key standards per grade to ensure strong progression across the grades. In middle school, when needed, there is also the opportunity for different math tracks to better meet all students where they are. All curriculum used at the school is aligned to the subject standards, and when the school is considering new curriculum, teaching staff carefully consider new series through the lens of subject matter standards.
