The purpose of the Student Council at Our Lady of Mount Carmel is to represent the student body in all matters related to the betterment of the school. We want students to develop and promote leadership abilities, strive for and create motivation for academic excellence and inspire citizenship among peers. We work to foster communication among students, administration, staff, and the community while promoting, organizing, and executing activities that encourage student pride and school spirit. We want to install democratic ideals and provide an outlet for student expression. We aim to continue the partnership between the school and the community by having students be exposed to the needs of others in the area and to give of themselves through service projects.

REQUIREMENTS OF ALL STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICERS
- Must be registered as a returning student for the upcoming school year
- Must attend Student Council retreat at school (prior to the start of school)
- Must attend weekly Student Council meetings
- Must bring Student Council notebook to meetings
- Must demonstrate appropriate and polite conduct
- Must follow through with commitments and duties as outlined
- Must have classroom teacher's permission before leaving or missing any class for Student Council business and must make up any missed activity or assignment.
- Must maintain "B" average in all subjects while in office, including behavior and effort
